Choosing a college is one of the most important decisions you'll make. All sorts of factors come into play, such as the size of the student body, the timeframe to complete a degree, whether a college is faith-based or secular, and whether it offers classes online.

After the pandemic, online classes are more popular than ever among students. In 2018, 28 million students registered for online courses through Courser, which provides online college classes. That number increased to 92 million in 2021. Today, almost 8.5 million students in the United States take online classes at public universities.

Dallas Baptist University offers the option to take classes on the Dallas campus or online, so you can get the most out of a transformative educational and faith experience. When it comes to investing in an online degree and yourself, here's what you need to know about how much it costs and how it can serve you.

Online Learning at Dallas Baptist University

Dallas Baptist University, one of the leading pioneers in online learning, has offered online classes since 1998. Since then, the Christ-centered college has soared, ranking as one of the top 100 best online universities with a student course completion rate of 94%.

A DBU online degree's value is similar to an on-campus one. DBU's online classes are designed for students to learn on your schedule with time requirements nearly identical to those on campus.

Dallas Baptist University Tuition

DBU online tuition rates from $495 to $550 per credit hour, comparable to in-state tuition at a public university in Texas, put toward either a Christian master's degree or bachelor's program.

DBU online tuition is much cheaper per credit hour than attending school on campus. In-person courses typically cost $38,240 annually for anywhere from 12 to 18 credit hours. That figure also accounts for housing and meal plans.

DBU offers financial aid through grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study opportunities. Eighty-six percent of students receive some financial assistance attending DBU, so don't let the cost of tuition stand in your way.

Undergraduate Class Options

DBU's online class size averages 13 students. The same faculty members who instruct on campus teach the online courses, so the quality of education and the diploma you get online is no different from any other student.

If you're completing your DBU bachelor's degree online, you have the same options as students attending in-person classes. Online classes offer students most of the same 86 undergraduate majors as in-person students.

Just like on campus, online students can accelerate their bachelor's degree by earning credit for work experience. They can even get a handful of bachelor's degrees available exclusively online at the discounted rate:

  • Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Communication
  • Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in History
  • Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Management
  • Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Marketing
  • Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Sociology

Graduate Class Options

Online master's degrees at DBU are also quite similar to DBU's 36 in-person ones, where faith is integrated into every part of a student's education and experience.

As with on-campus graduate degrees, most full-time online graduate students complete a master's degree in two or three years. If your schedule allows it, some DBU master's programs can be completed in just as few as 15 months.

Similar to exclusively online bachelor's degrees, some master's degrees are available entirely online at a discounted rate:

  • Master of Arts in Family Ministry
  • Master of Arts in Management
  • Master of Arts in Professional Development
  • Master of Education in Higher Education
  • Master of Science in Learning Technologies
  • Master of Music Education (NASM approval pending)

If you're unsure whether or not graduate school is right for you or what you want to get a master's degree in, consider your academic and extracurricular interests. What gets you motivated to learn? Where do you see yourself when you graduate? You can also check out information about DBU online here.

As for why you should complete an online graduate degree at DBU, we want to help you succeed in serving the world and what God calls you to do.
