Dr. William J. Abraham

Visiting Professor

Dr. William J. Abraham is a Visiting Professor for The Institute for Global Engagement. He is a renowned theologian, scholar, and author who currently serves as the Albert Cook Outler Professor of Wesley Studies at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology. Dr. Abraham has served over forty years in the Methodist Church in Ireland, and also serves on the General Commission on Unity and Interreligious Concerns of the United Methodist Church.

He is a member of the American Academy of Religion, the American Philosophical Association, the Wesleyan Theological Society, and the Society for the Study of Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism.

His education includes a B.A. from The Queen’s University of Belfast, a M.Div. from Ashbury Theological Seminary, a D.Phil from Regent’s Park College at Oxford University, and a D.D. (h.c.) from Ashbury Theological Seminary.

Most recently, Dr. Abraham led a symposium on the Hill over “Antisemitism in Britain and Ireland.”
