DBU Hosts Annual Engage Missions Conference
Dallas, TX – Dallas Baptist University hosted its annual Engage Missions Conference on September 17-23, led by DBU Director of Global Missions Chris Holloway and DBU student Sheldon Norred, and featuring keynote speaker Mike Dsane, Lead Pastor at King’s Harbor Church in Torrance, California.
The conference kicked off on Sunday night with a time of prayer and worship to prepare for the week ahead. Monday consisted of three sessions, at Chapel, lunch, and in the evening, during which time Dsane spoke on the necessity of a right relationship with Christ.
Over the course of the week, multiple sessions were held, including a Culture Shock in Missions workshop led by Nicole Faulkenberry, DBU Alumna who recently spent seven months serving in Germany, as well as a Church Planting session. One session also taught on reaching Muslims with the Gospel, taught by Dr. Bob Garrett, DBU Director of the Master of Arts in Global Leadership program and Piper Chair of Missions, and Dr. David Garrison, author, speaker, and missionary.
One evening, Holloway facilitated a panel discussion on Racial Reconciliation, a highlight of the week, which gave a practical and Christ-centered response to racial tension in our world.
The conference concluded with the Engage Your World Missions Fair and a service day in partnership with First Baptist Church, Irving.
“As the Engage Missions Conference came to a close, my heart was full as I considered all that took place,” shared Holloway. “To see students engage in a variety of such important, pressing topics is so encouraging. We are immensely blessed to be able to hold this event each year and are excited to see how the Lord uses this conference in years to come!”
