Steffy Andina Senior Spotlight

On August 17, 2014, Steffy Andina waited with excitement for a friend to pick her up from DFW Airport after a long flight from Indonesia. After traveling to campus, her home for the next four years, Andina headed to the International Office to check in and receive her room assignment. Amazed by the campus, Andina felt an overwhelming sense of peace to be at DBU. While leaving the International Office, the receptionist at the front desk called out to Andina, “Oh, and welcome to DBU!” It was at that moment that Andina knew she was right where she was supposed to be.

Throughout Andina’s four years, she strived to make a difference on campus serving as a Resident Assistant, the Co-Founder of the Indonesian Student Fellowship, an International Senator and the Vice President for the Student Government Association. While Andina dedicated much of her time to being involved on campus, she also worked towards excellence in her education. She was involved in the Academic Honors Society, Phi Beta Delta, and earned a spot on the Honors Roll. Although graduation brings the end of Andina’s campus involvement, we look forward to the ways the Lord will use her love and influence on people to transform the world.

A note to those who helped along the way…

“The Lord used many individuals on this campus to push me towards excellence and to grow my understanding of Him. More specifically, I’m so grateful for those who I work closely with in the Global Missions Building. First, thank you to Dr. Jay Harley for always pushing me out of my comfort zone. I am only the leader I am today because of his influence and investment. I’m grateful that he did not give up on me when I had given up on myself. Second, thank you to the Student Affairs staff (Terri Brown, Lindsey Bass, and Delaney Gusdorff) for teaching me what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. Those ladies are truly a group of servant leaders with humble hearts. Third, thank you to Deborah Tumala for encouraging me to be faithful to what and wherever God places me. I’m grateful for all the time she spent with me in prayer over both the good and bad times! Lastly, I’d like to thank Chris Chambers for being an incredible mentor and pushing me to be excellent in every aspect of my life. She was willing to meet me in my growth points and taught me that resting is a good thing!”

A note to future students…

“Through my time at DBU, I really learned to lead like how God wants me to lead. I never thought that I could achieve any of the things I achieved at DBU. This is all through God’s grace! If I can give encouragement to incoming students, it is to come and go through college with God’s expectations for you instead of your own expectations. When we fully surrender our lives to God, He will fully use our live to bless others. A quote that I shared at Chapel and continually clung on to for these past four years is, “Never measure God’s unlimited power by our limited expectations!”
