DBU Honors August 2021 Graduates
Dallas Baptist University finished out the summer by celebrating the 85 bachelor's graduates, 76 master's graduates, and 15 doctoral graduates in our August Commencement ceremonies. DBU held two in-person ceremonies on Friday, August 6 in Pilgrim Chapel, one of which provided a ceremony for graduates who couldn't walk the stage prior due to COVID-19, commending the hard work put in by each Patriot throughout their journey in higher education.
In each of the commencement services, special addresses were given by two respected spiritual leaders within our community who lead by example in their respective ministries and support DBU Patriots with dedication and zeal.
10:00 a.m. Commencement Service: Dr. David Reyes
Dr. David Reyes came to DBU in pursuit of his B.A. in Christian Studies (2013) followed by an M.A. in Communications (2015). As an undergraduate, Dr. Reyes was a small group leader, worship leader, speaker for Disciple Now ministries, founded Pi Theta Tau, and led a retirement home ministry. While working on his master's degree, Dr. Reyes was appointed as Student Life Coordinator, where he served until following a calling to serve as an Associate Student Pastor, first at Parkway Hills Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, and then at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has since returned to his alma mater to serve as Director of Student Life, and now, as Dean of Spiritual Life. Dr. Reyes has helped establish DBU's first Hispanic Student Union, participates as a subcommittee chair for the Community Advocates for Racial Equality (CARE) committee at DBU, and has created the Patriot Leader Institute. Dr. Reyes is married to his wife Madison and together, they have one son, Judah. They reside in Arlington, Texas, and are members of Fielder Church where Dr. Reyes leads worship from time-to-time and preaches and teaches as a lay leader. Dr. Reyes graduated on August 6 with his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education.
