Master of Arts in Global Leadership Alumna Feature: Morgan Bishop

Through the M.A. in Global Leadership Program, students are equipped with skills to aid in the ministry opportunities God has called them to. For DBU alumni Morgan Bishop, her time in the MAGL program taught her how to navigate different cultural backgrounds of individuals. Morgan grew up in Dublin, Texas, before moving to China to serve in the mission field. She later returned to Stephenville, TX to finish high school and begin college. Even though she became a Christian at a young age, it was during her time in college that she fully committed her life to Christ and began living for Him.

Morgan began pursuing a vocation in missions through the MAGL. Through the program, Morgan was able to study abroad in both Israel and Jordan. This broadened her worldview significantly, as it helped her experience the Bible through all five senses. Currently, Morgan works for Elk Ridge Baptist Church as their Missions, College, and Worship Assistant. The MAGL taught Morgan how to collaborate with those whose language differs from hers in cross-cultural ministry. She says, "The MAGL program truly helped me understand cultural intelligence and how to minister in a relevant way within my sphere of influence."

In February of 2022, Morgan's church hosted its first annual Missions Conference. They had over 70 international missionaries attend, with every continent being represented. The group gathered for four evenings, hearing briefly from each missionary while spending the afternoons in fellowship. Morgan recalls the joy she had in hosting missionaries and connecting with them on a personal level. In organizing this Missions Conference, she shares how vital it is to listen to the Holy Spirit's leading. Morgan says, "We can easily put a 5-year plan together that we believe is holy, God glorifying, and fits our heart's desires, but it is even more fulfilling when we allow God to have the role of Director for each step we take".

If Morgan could give any advice to MAGL students, it would be to develop relationships with professors and to get plugged into a community. Nothing is better than learning from a professor's personal experiences in their career field. She encourages each student to use the knowledge and relationships God has given them through their time at DBU and to be all in for Jesus as they pursue their callings.
