DBU Report Summer 2021

DBU REPORT 28 It is wonderful to see many generations in one family who have called DBU home. Whether the influence of grandparents, parents, or siblings, it is a joy to watch the legacy of the DBU experience unfolding within the story of families. DBU 2021 GRADUATE Macy Noe As the curtain falls on graduate Macy Noe’s time at Dallas Baptist University, she has taken the time to look back on her experience on University Hill and stand in awe as she observes all the Lord has done throughout her undergraduate years. A native of Arlington, Texas, and with an instinct to “pave her own path,” Macy never thought she would attend DBU. “I considered other universities as my college years approached; however, nothing defined home like DBU,” Macy explains. During her time on University Hill, Macy has served, led, worked, and studied in a variety of ways and capacities. Macy began her time as a student worker during her first semester in 2017, and over the years has worked for different offices, eventually becoming a full-time staff member as a Staff Assistant in the President’s Office during her last semester as a student. She is grateful for the opportunity she was given to work under the leadership of Dr. Adam C. Wright and serve in this capacity to round out her undergraduate career. Macy also maintained an active student life, participating in Greek Life, Academic Honor organizations, and the Student Government Association, as well as the college ministry, Student Mobilization. Macy learned what it looks like to pursue Christ daily at DBU. She grew to understand the importance of following Christ each day by reading Scripture. Through her friends, classmates, and professors, she saw and learned how to live in the freedom of Christ she craved when she was younger. Macy also attributes a large amount of her spiritual growth to the example set by her older sisters, Evan and Allie, who are also past graduates of DBU. Evan obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2013, and Allie obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2016. “Evan and Allie are living testimonies of Christ’s love for the church, as they have refused to let this challenging circumstance define God’s character,” says Macy regarding her older sisters and their demonstration of faith amid the challenges of the past year’s pandemic. She expresses that one of the hardest parts of the past year has been the distance the virus has forced her close-knit family to experience. “However,” she says, “despite COVID’s efforts to separate our family, it has brought us closer.” Macy graduated this May with her Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and a minor in Evan (Noe) Thompson, Macy Noe, and Allie (Noe) Johnson Generations of Impact THE DBU LEGACY
