DBU Report Summer 2021 - Page 39

SUMMER 2021 39 MASTER OF ARTS IN PSYCHOLOGY According to Mental Health America, 60% of youth with major depression did not receive any mental health treatment in 2017-2018. In addition, the pandemic has caused increases in youth reporting mental health issues. DBU is ready to answer the need. Recent legislation has paved the way for master’s graduates to practice as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) in the state of Texas. Previously, this career field was only available to those with a doctorate. So, DBU is launching the Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP) in Fall 2021. The MAP will prepare students to practice as an LPA or a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). DBU will be the only university in Texas with such a program. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN DIGITAL RISK MANAGEMENT DBU has established itself as a leader in the technology space through our Master of Science in Information Technology and Management program. The recent cyberattack of the Colonial Pipeline has created a heightened awareness for the need for cybersecurity professionals in America. DBU is responding to this need. This fall, we are introducing the Master of Science DBU PROVIDES SOLUTIONS TO CURRENT PROBLEMS WITH NEW MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMS in Digital Risk Management (MSDRM) to address the extreme shortage in the cybersecurity and data privacy fields. The MSDRM includes coursework on mitigating the vulnerabilities in cybersecurity, workforce risk, compliance risk, third-party risk, automation risk, resiliency risk, and data privacy risk. THE REDESIGNED MBA There has been much debate about the quality of remote and virtual education during the pandemic. DBU responded quickly by moving all classes to online or virtual instruction. Now, DBU is merging the benefits of virtual instruction and the in-classroom experience with our new no time, no place constraint MBA. DBU’s redesigned MBA features subject matter experts interacting with students in a virtual environment that maintains perks of the in-class experience. Students can participate wherever they are and learn from some of the best minds in the industry. Leading this new initiative is Dr. Jonathan Wilson, whose impressive global experience has paved the way for this innovative degree.
