DBU REPORT 34 PATRIOTATHLETICS PATRIOTS STRIVE FORWARD TO REDEEM TIME IN THE MIDST OF CHALLENGES Lady Patriots Soccer Team As March 2020 rolled around, DBU Athletics geared up for championship runs and a packed spring season. With the outbreak of COVID-19, everything changed. These changes carried beyond just the spring competition and continued to impact the world of athletics into the fall semester. Yet throughout all of the changes, cancellations, and postponements, DBU Patriots never lost hope and instead thrived in the midst of these challenging times with several teams reaching unprecedented heights. “The success of our teams this year is a result of their unwavering perseverance during these challenging times.” “The success of our teams this year is a result of their unwavering perseverance during these challenging times,” explained Director of Athletics Connor Smith. “I could not be more proud of the leadership of our entire coaching staff and the determination of our studentathletes. They have served as an inspiration to our entire institution, and I look forward to seeing what they are able to accomplish this spring.” Every fall sport had to adjust to new schedules, as the NCAA Division II only allowed championship competition for non-contact sports, which allowed the DBU Women’s Cross Country Team to shine, landing a Lone Star Conference Championship. The Lady Patriots had a league-high seven runners on the All-Lone Star Conference Team, while Jacob Phillips was named the
