A select musical ensemble performing primarily Christian contemporary literature appropriate for worship. This audition-only ensemble represents Dallas Baptist University in performance venues on and off campus.

A selective instrumental ensemble performing a variety of music from the repertoire of American jazz, including Dixieland, Big Band, Swing, Be-Bop, Fusion, and Free Jazz Improvisation. Concerts on and off campus. Open to all students by audition.

The DBU Grand Chorus is a combination of the DBU choral ensembles and serves as a large chorus for major events throughout the year. This ensemble frequently performs at the Russell Perry Dinner and the DBU Christmas Festival.

The DBU Liberty Chorus (Treble) is one of the required choral ensembles for all students majoring in music or music business. This ensemble will perform concerts throughout the year and sing for major University events, potentially including the DBU Leadership Gala and Christmas Festival. The ensemble will perform a diverse array of literature encompassing various genres and styles.

The study and performance of scenes from great operas throughout history.

2024-2025 Production:

This ensemble will prepare and perform The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan - an English operetta that has frequently been presented on Broadway, in Film, and throughout the country. This is an elective class and requires an audition.

This course will explore piano repertoire written for more than one pianist. Students will rehearse and perform collaborative piano works by composers from standard and contemporary classical literature. One semester required for Piano Performance Majors as an ensemble credit.

The DBU Pop/Rock Band is an instrumental music ensemble that performs a variety of popular music literature. This group will also serve as a lab band for songwriters, producers, and composers in the music department. This group will present a concert each semester. Open to rhythm section (drum set, electric bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard) instrumental students by audition.

Private (Applied) Lessons

Applied Piano Elective

Private instruction in piano for 25 minutes per week. Due to the varying levels of ability with elective students, the outcomes of the semester are mutually determined by the student and professor. The professor will determine the final exam based upon the student's improvement and learner-centered outcomes. This applied piano course does not require a final jury exam.

Applied music fee required.

Applied Voice Elective

Private instruction in voice for 25 minutes per week. This applied voice course does not require a final jury exam.

Applied music fee required; accompanist fee required.
