On Wednesday we went to the 9/11 memorial and the Society of Illustrators. It was a rainy and gloomy day at the 9/11 memorial, which really set the tone for the event. It was emotional and heavy walking around the pools, reading the names.
The vastness of the memorial and the list of names put a lot in perspective about that day.
A beautiful bright side, though, was seeing a white rose stuck in the letter of one of the names. The Society of Illustrators was a pinnacle of the trip for the art students. There we got to see a lot of modern and current illustrations and took a private tour of the archives. Everyone got to see a classic piece from one of their favorite illustrators, and it will definitely be a lasting memory!
Today was really special because it snowed in New York City! It was a scene straight out of a movie, and really cool to experience the city in the snow! We finished the night, and trip, off with a group dinner at Carmines Italian Restaurant. They are famous for their family-style Italian food, and it was a great ending to such a fun trip - sitting around a big table, sharing memories from the trip, and eating delicious food!
