Senior Fellow for Ethics and Justice

Dr. Marcus "Goodie" Goodloe joins DBU’s Institute for Global Engagement as Senior Fellow for Ethics and Justice. Goodloe is an alumnus and longtime friend of DBU serving as an adjunct professor in the Gary Cook School of Leadership and frequent speaker at Veritas Lecture Series and DBU chapel services. In his new role as Senior Fellow, Dr. Goodloe will provide thought leadership for DBU and IGE audiences via written material, lectures, and webinars. He will specialize on matters of leadership through influence, social justice, and research regarding the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

A Compton, California native, Marcus "Goodie" Goodloe, Ph.D. travels around the country mentoring students and educators, business professionals, athletes and entertainers, and faith communities on a range of issues, including cultural and interpersonal relationships, leadership, team and synergy, character formation, and faith.

Goodloe serves on the Community Engagement Board for Redondo Beach Police Department. Through consistent work with members of the law enforcement community and community activists, Dr. Goodloe continues to support efforts to foster better understanding and education on matters of fairness and justice with respect to the judicial system and cooperative policing.

He is the author of the book, KingMaker: Applying Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Leadership Lessons in Working with Athletes and Entertainers (2015), co-author of Habits: Six Steps To The Art Of Influence (2017), and The Next Level: Growing with God... in His Word, Your Walk, and Your Worship (2022). In 2016, Dallas Baptist University established the Marcus Goodie Goodloe Scholarship in his honor.

Additionally, Dr. Goodloe has worked with athletic departments from universities across the nation, including Dallas Baptist University, University of Oklahoma, Southern Mississippi University, University of New Mexico, and University of Kansas. His engagement with the athletic world also includes speaking to Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the national and state levels and professional teams, including the NFL's Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers.

Apart from his formal roles, Goodloe serves as an active volunteer of Wave Church in Los Angeles, leading the pastoral care team. He also serves on the speaking team for the other Wave Church campuses across the country.
