Dr. Dana Wicker's Background
Dana Abernathy Wicker is the Director of the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and a Professor of Psychology and Counseling in the Graduate School of Ministry at Dallas Baptist University. She received a B.A. from Baylor University where she majored in Psychology. Dr. Wicker went on to earn her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Texas and completed her formal internship at the Dallas Child Guidance Clinic.
Dr. Wicker began her teaching career at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she taught for 14 years in the Marriage and Family Counseling program. Dr. Wicker joined the DBU Humanities and Social Science faculty in the Fall of 2011 and taught psychology at the undergraduate level and counseling in the Master of Arts in Counseling Program. In the Summer of 2016, she became the director of the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling Program. She is a licensed psychologist, and she practices counseling at Impact Counseling and Guidance Center. Dr. Wicker is a member of First Baptist Church in Dallas.
