Earning an MBA equips graduates with the skills, knowledge, and experience to land a multitude of positions and earn a higher salary. In fact, MBA grads saw a growth of 28.1% in median earnings, from $160,000 to $205,000 annually, between 2018 and 2022, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

If you're currently checking out online MBA programs or want to enroll in an in-person MBA degree program, let's explore how earning an MBA can help advance your career and why you should choose to complete your MBA at DBU.

How an MBA Can Advance Your Career

If you already have experience in the business world and want to reach the next level in your career, an MBA degree can serve as a professional stepping stone and open doors.

Furthermore, some employers require a master's degree for hiring and advancement.

If you don't have a long work history, earning an MBA can also help you gain specialized knowledge and skills to score a job promotion, acquire an executive position as a new hire, or launch a startup company. According to the 2022 Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) Corporate Recruiters Survey, 92% of corporate recruiters planned to hire applicants who have earned their MBA over those without one.

Survey recruiters are also confident that business school graduates "have strong communication skills, a versatile skill set, and are strategic thinkers." This mindset bodes well for job-seeking MBA graduates.

Plus, many MBA graduates earn a six-figure salary. According to the GMAC survey data, the median MBA salary for new hires in 2022 was $115,000. If you're considering getting an MBA, here's more information about the degree and DBU's MBA program.

What is an MBA?

MBA stands for Master of Business Administration. In general, an MBA program primes graduates for leadership and business management positions in various fields. Core MBA curriculum usually includes master's level courses in subjects like accounting, corporate finance, and human resource management, to name a few.

As in any degree discipline, MBA hopefuls want to receive a return on their educational investment. Fortunately, management is a growing field. "Overall employment in management occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033."1 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook

Industries like consulting, finance, tech, consumer packaged goods, entertainment, media, sports, and healthcare offer MBA graduates some of the highest-paying jobs, according to Fortune. Some positions also pay bonuses on top of a base salary.

With a good occupational outlook, lots of job opportunities, and six-figure earnings, MBA graduates have excellent professional potential.
