Dr. Joanne Hix teaches management coursework in the College of Business, and has done so since 2008. Prior to joining the DBU faculty, Dr. Hix served for many years at Southwest Airlines as a strategic analyst on the Federal Airport Security Technology Team. While at Southwest, she implemented new skills management systems, developed leadership training processes, and selected various new vendor programs. Leading up to this position, Dr. Hix worked on the drilling training and development team at Mobil Corporation, followed by a stint in the legal field as general manager of the litigation support firm Looney & Co.
Beginning her academic journey at Dallas Baptist University, Dr. Hix has also served as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer at Texas Woman's University, University of North Texas, University of Texas at Arlington, and Tarrant County College. During her first years at DBU, she received the “Outstanding Adjunct Business Professor of the Year” award, and continues to live up to that reputation by providing students with classroom experiences that are engaging, motivating, and focus on real-world situations. Having completed her Ph.D. in Applied Technology Performance Improvement, Dr. Hix was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Business and is currently a motivational speaker at various corporations, universities, and special events. She has a deep passion for teaching and sharing her knowledge with others, lecturing on subjects ranging from Human Resource Management, to Ethics and Legal Compliance.
