The Commissional Corner: Congratulations December Graduates

Susan

Susan Mogish is one of our students graduating in December. We asked her to share with us a little about her journey entering into the MAGL program, her experience in the program, and what her plans are after her time in the program.

How do you plan to use the skills that you learned in the MAGL program to further the Gospel in your post-graduate ministry?

I plan, Lord willing, to continue working in foreign missions. My heart is definitely with foreign missions and I have been involved in work with orphans since 2005, which I want to continue. I am also praying for expanded opportunities at home. I am able to apply many of the skills I have learned in my marketplace job at my church. I am not sure exactly which new opportunities will develop but I believe that this degree has prepared me for my current ministry and for expanded future ministry.

What are some ways that you have seen God open doors for you where you never thought they would open as a result of the MAGL program?

The opportunity to continue to serve in another country and lead teams has expanded since I've been at DBU. I have learned how to be a better leader and how to minister more effectively.

The MAGL program has also allowed me to be more effective in my current role in the corporate world. I've had doors open to me to train and lead other leaders corporately and abroad. This is partially the result of some additional leadership training that I've also had outside of DBU as well, but learning how to expect and approach these opportunities has come from my DBU training.

Is there any advice that you would like to give students who are currently in the program?

My advice is to stay close to your advisor and communicate with your professors whenever you have a question or any reason that you would like to communicate with them more. I have had so many supportive professors and they live, not just talk, about being servant leaders. Apply yourself in the program and pursue it with all your heart and the Lord will give back to you what you put into it, plus even more. It has been more than classes for me; it has been life-changing. Go above and beyond and undergird everything with prayer.
