Scholarships for Working Adults

Scholarships are one of the best ways to help pay for college. And Dallas Baptist University has many scholarships available to working adults. Take a look at which ones may work best for you.

Note: Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) to receive any scholarship funded by DBU. 

Christian Service Scholarship | up to $4,000 per year

The Christian Service Scholarship awards $2,000 per semester to new, incoming Professional Studies students. Qualifying students who receive the Christian Service Scholarship exhibit Christian character and are involved in their church and community. Students are awarded the Christian Service Scholarship based on information they provide on the admission application. 

Church Matching Gift Program | up to $3,500 per year

Dallas Baptist University will match up to $3,500 per academic year per student of gifts given by a Christian church for DBU students. Guidelines apply.

Corporate Scholarships/Tuition Remission | Varies

DBU has agreements with several companies to provide their employees with a tuition scholarship. For more information, contact your company’s human resources department to see if they have a partnership with DBU.

DBU also offers a variety of payment options for corporate education students as well as those who receive payment for their tuition from a third-party company, organization, or tuition program.

PRST Commuter Scholarship | $5,000 per year

The PRST Commuter Scholarship is only awarded to new, incoming Adult Professional Studies students. Students may apply for the PRST Commuter Scholarship through the PRST Commuter Scholarship application.

Adult Professional Studies students meeting all eligibility requirements may be awarded $5,000 per academic year. The PRST Commuter Scholarship may be awarded in addition to the Christian Service Scholarship. 

First-Responders Scholarship | $500 per semester

DBU awards $500 per semester to first-responders. Eligibility is determined by the information provided on the student’s application for admission.

Military/Veteran Scholarships | Varies

DBU offers scholarships and dedicated support services to all eligible veterans, active service members, and their dependents.

Yellow Ribbon Program

DBU offers unlimited Yellow Ribbon Program match funding to cover tuition costs that may exceed the annual VA funding cap for eligible recipients of the 100% rate of Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) GI Bill®. 

DBU Home of the Patriots Scholarship

DBU also offers a $600/semester scholarship to Veterans and their dependents.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship | $10,000 per year

The Phi Theta Scholarship is only available to new, incoming transfer Adult Professional Studies students meeting eligibility requirements. Students who wish to apply for the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship must submit their PTK Certificate to DBU admissions along with their online PTK application.

Adult Professional Studies students meeting all eligibility requirements may be awarded $6,000 per academic year if living off-campus or $10,000 if living on campus and enrolled as a full-time student. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship may be awarded in lieu of the Transfer Commuter Scholarship but in addition to the Christian Service Scholarship.

Recipients of the scholarship must:

  1. Be a member in good standing in Phi Theta Kappa.
  2. Be enrolled as a full-time student.
  3. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any other required paperwork, as requested.
  4. Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
  5. Maintain moral and ethical standards that would be exemplary of the life of Christ.

BGCT Ministry Scholarship | $50-$150 per semester hour

The BGCT Ministry Scholarship is partially funded by the Baptist General Convention of Texas for up to $100 per semester hour for first-year students. Professional Studies students must be pursuing a major or minor in the area of Christian Ministries to be eligible. The scholarship increases to up to $150 per semester hour for junior and senior students.
