Dallas, TX – Doug Lawson, chief operating officer for Baylor University Medical Center, served as the keynote speaker for the DBU College of Business’s Fall BLAST (Business Luncheon And Seminar Training) event held on October 21. Lawson joined the Baylor Health Care System in 2007 as president of Baylor Grapevine. In his current role, he oversees all operating aspects of Baylor and has responsibility for Baylor’s oncology, transplant, and neuroscience departments. No stranger to Dallas Baptist University, Lawson is entering the third year of his doctoral program at DBU, the Ph.D. in Leadership Studies.
Dallas, TX – More than 600 incoming and transfer students from Dallas Baptist University participated in service projects around the Metroplex on Friday, August 23. Participants in Student Welcome and Transition (SWAT) Week, volunteered at a variety of locations with projects ranging from landscaping to assembling backpacks filled with school supplies for a local church.

Dallas, TX –Dallas Baptist University hosted the 25th Annual Decatur Baptist College Spring Reunion for alumni and friends on Friday, April 19. During the program, the class of 1963 was honored for their 50th Anniversary, and the class of 1953 was recognized for their 60th Anniversary. Additionally, Mrs. Nell Bowles was recognized with the Decatur Honorary Alumna Award and Mrs. Joyce Sellars was presented with the Decatur Distinguished Service Award.
Dallas, TX – – Dallas Baptist University hosted the 25th Annual DBU-Oak Cliff Partnership Dinner on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, on the DBU campus. During the dinner, the 2013 Good Samaritan Awards were presented to Jim Palmer, founder of the Silver Serenaders of Texas, and John Clem, DBU director of development. Dr. Rose-Mary Rumbley, retired DBU professor, served as the chair of the Advisory Committee. All proceeds from the dinner provide scholarships for students from Oak Cliff who are attending DBU.
Dallas, TX – On Friday, April 26, a busload of 54 junior high and high school students from West, Texas, traveled to the Dallas Baptist University campus in southeast Dallas for a Disciple Now (DNow) weekend of spiritual renewal, small group interaction, recreational games, and an outpouring of love from college students.

Dallas, TX – Dallas Baptist University hosted the 2013 Global Missions Conference on February 12 and 13 with an emphasis on “Praying for the Nations.” Dr. Bob Garrett, director of the Master of Arts in Global Leadership program in the Gary Cook Graduate School of Leadership, coordinated the two-day event held on the University campus, which was sponsored by the generous support of the Christ is Our Salvation Foundation, Inc.
Dallas, TX – Seventy-nine students from Dallas Baptist University spent Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Day serving around the Metroplex, in recognition of the civil rights leader who taught about the importance of volunteering and making a positive impact on communities. Coordinated through DBU’s Center for Service-Learning, the students served at four different locations.
Dallas, TX – In Bangladesh, more than 40 percent of the population is underemployed, with many people working only a few hours a week at low wages. With so many living in hard conditions, there is a great need for help. Thirteen students from Dallas Baptist University, accompanied by three faculty members, had the opportunity to travel to this impoverished country over winter break and to provide aid through principles they learned in the classroom.
