Dallas Baptist University Hosts Dr. Sheila M. Bailey
Dallas, TX – As a part of DBU’s annual International Week, Dr. Sheila M. Bailey, respected teacher, writer, and speaker, shared with the DBU Family in chapel, challenging students to fight against spiritual mediocrity.
“We first must get up,” explained Bailey, “heeding the spiritual alarms in our lives, and then we must clean up – we are called to walk in the light, allowing the blood of Jesus to cleanse us. We then dress up, putting on the full armor of God, we grow up as we continue to gain maturity, and finally we go up, as we take the truth we know to wherever we are called.”
Wife of the late Reverend E.K. Bailey, she currently serves as President of Sheila B. Ministries and is the recipient of the Dallas Baptist University Women’s Auxiliary Board Ruth Award for 2016. Bailey was also a Movement Day Global Cities 2016 Honoree, selected by the New York City Leadership Center for her impact on Christian leaders for the Kingdom. She holds a Bachelors in Christian Education from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, and an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Dallas Baptist University.
Bailey is a member of Concord Church in Dallas, founded by her husband in 1975. She has two daughters, Cokiesha B. Robinson and Shenikwa M. Cager, a son, Reverend Emon Kendrick Bailey, as well as two granddaughters.
Courtney Hackett (Smith) served as the Assistant to the Vice President for Communications in the University Communications division at DBU.
