DBU’s Dorothy M. Bush College of Education Approved to Offer Alternative Superintendent Certification

The Dallas Baptist University Dorothy M. Bush College of Education has received approval from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to offer an Alternative Superintendent Certification program. This new certification pathway provides a flexible and accessible option for educators who have already earned a master’s degree and principal certification, enabling them to advance their careers and pursue a superintendent role.
The program is specifically designed for busy, working professionals, allowing them to complete their certification in just two semesters, one in the fall and one in the spring. This condensed schedule makes it easier for educators to balance their professional responsibilities with their educational goals.
Additionally, for those interested in furthering their studies, DBU offers a unique opportunity. Students who pursue the Alternative Superintendent Certification can transfer up to twelve hours (four classes) of their coursework into DBU's Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) K-12 program, should they decide to continue toward their doctorate.
This new certification program is part of DBU's commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities that help develop effective leaders in the field of education. "We are so happy to be able to offer this new alternative certification option at an extremely affordable price. It shows DBU’s commitment to developing Christ-centered servant-leaders in education who will go out to fulfill God’s calling to influence the next generation by shining His light in the world," said Dr. Larry McHaney, Director of Educational Leadership. This program allows educators to take the next step in their professional journey while maintaining the flexibility needed for their busy lives.
With the TEA's approval, DBU continues to strengthen its reputation as a leader in preparing educational professionals who are equipped to lead with excellence in a variety of roles, including the highly important position of superintendent.
